William J. Reed, Jr. “Bill”, a resident of Warrington, PA., for 46 years passed away suddenly at Doylestown Hospital on Thursday October 5, 2023. Bill was 73 years old. He was the beloved husband of Barbara A. (Aucott) Reed, together they had been married for 46 years.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, Bill was the son of the late William J. Sr., and Ethel (Roskey) Reed.
Bill graduated from Cardinal Dougherty High School, class of 1967.
Bill had worked as a Parts Manager for the Faulkner organization. He had retired after 30 years, although had gone back to work part-time at Bryner Chevrolet.
Bill enjoyed golfing every week, taking care of his beautiful yard, working on antique cars, traveling to Florida in the Winter, and vacationing at the Jersey Shore every summer with his family.
Family was everything to Bill, and he was incredibly proud of the family that he had raised over the years with integrity, humor, and unconditional love.
Bill was a proud Army Veteran, having served in the Vietnam War from 1969 - 1971. A true patriot, Bill proudly displayed the American flag in his yard, and always thanked others for their service.
He will be remembered for being “Mr. Christmas” in Warrington Village. For over 40 years Bill set up a unique handmade Christmas display drawn and painted by his wife and children. It progressed over the years to over 90 figures in the yard. People came from all over every year to see it. For many years, Bill dressed up as Santa Claus and handed out candy canes to hundreds of children during the Christmas season with his young daughters dressed up as elves. This was a true labor of love.
In addition to his wife Barbara, Bill is survived by his 4 children; Wendy Metzger (Michael Hoy), Christopher Metzger (Janice), Kimberly Wells (Michael), and Brooke Reed. He was the proud grandfather of Nicholas and Gabrielle Politi, and Carter and Connor Metzger. He was the brother of Kathryn Markert (Tom) and Joseph Reed.
