Obituary for William J. Bangs
William J. Bangs, of Hilltown, formerly of Warrington, passed away on Friday, March 06, 2020 at Manor Care, Montgomeryville. He was 96.
Bill was the beloved husband of the late Antoinette Bangs, who passed away in 2004.
Born in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late William F. and Olga Bangs
Bill was a proud veteran of World War II, serving in the Army in Austria and Germany. His fluency in the German language helped him to make lifelong friends from Austria.
A natural salesman, Bill enjoyed a long career as a sales representative for The Stanford Seed Company in Philadelphia followed by Miles Fry & Son Nurseries in Ephrata, PA.
In his free time, Bill enjoyed reading, watching classic movies and the Phillies. An avid reader, he could be found reading 5-6 different books simultaneously and his home away from home was the Perkasie or Doylestown libraries.
Bill is survived by his two daughters, Lisa Barday (Philip), Christina Waltman; six grandchildren, Jeffrey, Allison, Alexander, Ashley, Julee, Gary; and four great grandchildren, Sophia, Evelyn, Edward, and Olivia.
In addition to his wife and parents, Bill is preceded in death by his brother Albert Bangs.
Bill’s funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Shelly Funeral Home, 1460 Easton Road, Warrington, PA. Family will receive friends from 10:30-11 prior to the service. Entombment will follow at Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Ambler.
