Obituary for Thomas M "Tom" McCartin

Thomas M. McCartin, of Warrington, passed away peacefully at the age of 80 on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at Neshaminy Manor, surrounded by his loving wife and children.

Tom was born in Philadelphia, and predeceased by his parents, Daniel and Margaret McCartin. Tom graduated from Father Judge High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1960 to 1963 during the Vietnam Era. After getting an honorable discharge from the Navy, Tom worked as a lineman for PECO until his retirement.

Tom was the beloved husband of Kathleen McCartin. The couple celebrated their anniversary in October. In addition to his wife, Kathleen, Tom will be deeply missed by his children, Thomas McCartin, Maureen McMenamin and Karen O’Neill; 8 grandchildren, Kate, Kendall, Patrick, Samantha, Allie, Lauren, Paige, James as well as his sister Rose Mary. Tom was predeceased by his brother, Daniel McCartin.

Tom, along with his wife, Kathleen, are parishioners of St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church.

Tom was a dedicated man who loved and was loved by all who knew him. He was known affectionately as “Big Tom”, the tallest man anyone knew. In his free time, Tom enjoyed skiing, golfing and cheering on all of the local Philadelphia Sports Teams as well as spending time with family and friends.



Tom's Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at 10:30 AM at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 856 Euclid Ave., Warrington, PA 18976. Tom’s family will receive friends from 9:30 AM until the time of the Mass. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family at Washington Crossing National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Tom’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN or to Doylestown Hospice, check may be made payable to Doylestown Health Foundation, 595 W. State Street, Doylestown, PA 18901.
