Obituary for Robert H Brass

Robert H. Brass, 87 years old, of New Britain, Pennsylvania, passed
away on August 31, 2014, in the presence of his family.
Robert ("Bob") was a retired Master Plumber who grew up in the
small town of Locust Gap in the anthracite region of Pennsylvania. He
graduated from Mount Carmel High School in 1944 and was a veteran
of World War II, serving in the United States Navy from April 1945 to
August 1946. He married Helen A. Bridy of Mount Carmel in April
1950. In 1956, he moved his growing family to Willow Grove and in
1963, to Ivyland, Pennsylvania. Robert and Helen Brass retired in
1988 and relocated to Catawissa, in the region where they had grown
up. Robert Brass was active in the Masons, the Grange, and the
Christ United Evangelical Lutheran Church in Catawissa.
Robert is survived by his wife, Helen B. Brass (nee Bridy), his
children, Theresa L. Brass-Nash of Dickinson, Texas, Elizabeth L.
Brass of Horsham, Sharon A.L. Brass and Andrew McCarthy of
Hatboro, Robert D. and Debbie Brass (nee Dragon) of Chalfont,
James D. and Darlene Brass (nee Davis) of Santa Fe, Texas, and his
grandchildren, Natalie McMinn (nee Corey) of Jamison, James J .
Corey of New Britain, Lisa Chou (nee Brass) of Newark, Delaware,
Heather Brass of Chalfont, Dylan B. Marlow of Sarasota, Florida, and
Jesse Brass of Santa Fe, Texas, currently serving in the United States
Marines, stationed in Japan, and a sister, Shirley Brass, of Locust
Gap. Robert's daughter, Kathryn A. Brass, preceded him in death in
2007, as did two brothers, Clayton of Deer Run, PA in 1990, and
Clarence, Junior (" Junie") of Mount Carmel in 2002.
The family will receive friends at the Shelly Funeral Home, 1460 Easton Road,
Warrington, PA on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 from 6 to 8 PM
and Thursday, September 4, 2014 from 9 to 10 AM. Services will
follow at the funeral home beginning at 10:00 A M on Thursday, with
internment at Washington Crossing National Cemetery scheduled for
11:30 AM. Arrangements will be announced in the near future for a memorial service to be held in Catawissa, Pennsylvania.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Robert’s name may be made to the Christ United Evangelical Lutheran Church, 116 Church St, Catawissa, PA 17820.
