Obituary for Robert Paul "Gicker" Gick

Robert Paul "Gicker" Gick
Robert Paul Gick, a 45-year resident of Warrington PA, passed away early Saturday morning in his home. He was 76.
Gicker was a devoted husband and dedicated father who is survived and adored by his loving wife of nearly 50 years Janet (née Porter), his four children Bob (Jen), Jennifer Stevens (Michael), Dan, and Kevin (Adrienne), and his six grandchildren Serena, Winston, RJ, Alexis, Ryan and Greta. He is also survived by three of his four brothers, Harry, Steve, and Joseph. He will be sorely missed by his family as well as by his many friends.
Born in Brooklyn, NY and raised by his mother, Gicker used athletics to escape the city and went to Ohio Northern University on scholarship where he played both football and basketball. After graduating from college he joined the United States Navy and became a Naval Aviator. Upon leaving the active duty Navy he was hired by Pan American World Airways where he had the opportunity to travel the world. In 1991 after more than 30 years of active and reserve service he retired from the Navy as a Captain. He finished his airline career in 1997 after having flown with Pan Am, Falcon Jet and Delta Airlines.
During his retirement Bob and Janet traveled extensively, visiting their children and grandchildren, spending their summers on the Jersey shore and their winters in Hawaii where they were married in 1964.
A visitation will be held on Monday, February 17, 2014 from 10am to 12 noon at the Shelly Funeral Home, 1460 Easton Road, Warrington.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Michael J Fox foundation for Parkinson’s research or the Heartland Hospice Memorial fund.
