Obituary

Rick L. Markie passed away on Saturday March 7, 2020 at Abington Hospice in Warminster. Rick was 63 years old. Born in Hartford, CT., Rick was the son of the late Richard J. and Elizabeth (Nee Martin ) Markie.
Rick is survived by his sisters, Karen Markie and Beth Ouellette. He is also survived by his nieces, Nikole Markie, Anne Ouellette and nephew, Richard Markie. He was preceded in death by his brother Terry Markie.

In addition to growing up in East Hartford, CT., he has lived in South Burlington, VT; Louisville, KY; and Elmira, NY. In August, Rick moved to PA to be closer to his sister.
He graduated from East Hartford High School in 1974 and attended University of Connecticut (UCONN).
Rick spent many years working at Riverside Nursing Home in East Hartford. He also managed a number of fast food restaurants until he stopped working about 12 years ago.

In his free time, he enjoyed listening to Talk Radio, reading and playing with and petting his beloved cat, Smokey. He loved Star Trek and Star Wars and frequently watch the movies and shows in addition to reading many of the books. He was an avid Orioles fan despite the frequent disappointments.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date.

Morning Karen,

My condolences on the lost of your brother Rick. Having lost my only sibling 22yrs ago at his young age of 45, I can tell you there is not one thing that will make the days to come easier. This is something you never get over, but in time you will be able to handle the loss a bit easier and remember the good times.
