Obituary for Paul T. Crouthamel

Paul T. Crouthamel
On July 20th, following a short illness, Paul Crouthamel, aged 93, passed away,
surrounded by his loving family.
Paul was born on April 16,1921 to Edward and Laura (Jamison] Crouthamel. He
grew up and lived all of his life in, and around Doylestown, which he loved dearly.
Paul graduated from Doylestown High School where he lettered in Football, being
elected Team Captain his Senior year in 1939.
In World War II Paul served with the United States Army as a Staff Sergeant with the 427t h General Hospital, serving primarily in New Guinea and the Philippine Islands.
After the war, Paul returned to Doylestown and married the love of his life, Sara
Chubb. When Paul passed away, he and Sara had been married for sixty-eight years.
Early in their marriage, Paul and Sara operated a sandwich shop on West State
Street in Doylestown. Several years later he began his career with the US Postal
Service. He worked as a Rural Delivery Carrier, delivering mail in the Doylestown
area until his retirement in 1984.
Paul's interests in life were many and varied. As a young boy he raised and raced homing pigeons and was one of the founding members of the North Penn Pigeon
Club, which is still in existence today. He was a member of the Knights of the Golden
Eagle for sixty-eight years, was a long-time member of Doylestown Presbyterian
Church, and was a member of the American Legion. Paul was an avid bowler for
most of his life and he loved football and gardening. But primarily, Paul's life
revolved around his family. Celebrating life's special occasions, and enjoying all of
the usual activities of the passing seasons with family and friends, were what
brought him his greatest pleasures in life.
Surviving Paul are his wife, Sara, and their three children, Donald [Kathi]
Crouthamel of Sellersville, Lois (Barry] Wisniewski of New Concord, Ohio, and Linda
Frederick of Pipersville. Also surviving him are eight grandchildren and ten great
grandchildren. In addition to his parents, preceding him in death was his brother,
Edward.
