Obituary for Norma Jean Anderson

Norma Jean (Baker) Anderson, age 90, of Southampton, PA, passed away on December 6, 2022 at Neshaminy Manor Nursing Home, Warrington, PA. Born in Saxton, PA on June 18, 1932, Norma was the daughter of the late Eugene and Almeda (Carberry) Baker. She graduated from Saxton-Liberty High School in 1950. After graduation, she moved to the Philadelphia area and married Herbert L. Anderson on November 22, 1952.

Norma Jean is survived by her sister, Dorothy Myers of Maryland; her son, Herbert L. Anderson, Jr. and his wife, Robin, of Warrington, PA; and a daughter, Karen Alderfer. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Norma had been the office manager for an eye doctor in Southampton for many years. She also worked at the polls for the elections in Bucks County, PA.

Norma’s love of sports was unending. Philadelphia Phillies and the Eagles were her favorites with Pittsburgh teams a close second. She often fondly remarked she should have written a book on all the characters she knew from the Broad Top and Baker & Donelson Mill along with those she met through her married life later. She had warm memories of these friends as well as providing her own unique, warm memories to her family.

Norma Jean respected her parents and loved her family. She lived her life of her terms. Her will was as strong in the end as it was in the beginning.

Norma will be missed by those that loved her. Good job done, Mom. Rest well.

Norma’s funeral services are private at the convenience of the family.

Donations in Norma’s memory should be made the charity of one’s choice.
