Nancy Mae Ulmen, cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away
peacefully on August 4, 2023, at the age of 80, with loved ones by her side.
Born in Nanticoke, PA, Nancy was the daughter of Milsom and Naomi Hughes and sister to the
late Milsom Hughes Jr. Nancy was married to her loving husband, Peter P. Ulmen, Sr. for 58
years. Peter served in the Navy so they spent the early years of their marriage moving with
their growing family in tow. Eventually, they settled into the town of New Britain, PA where
they raised their children and had the joy watching both their grand and great grandchildren
grow up.
Nancy’s hobbies were reading and gardening. One could say she was an open book as she could
always be found with a half-read book of one of her many favorite authors on a bed side table.
Nancy’s passion for gardening was evident both in and outside her home. From gardens to
filled flower pots, her home was always adorned with meticulously cared for flowers and
plants.
Above all else, family was Nancy’s biggest passion and what she held most dear to her heart. In
the wake of her passing, Nancy leaves behind the love of her life and husband, Peter; her
beloved children, Peter Jr, Sharon, Shawn and his wife Melissa; her grandchildren, Amanda,
Sara, Mark, Ryan, Jena, Brianna, Jack, and Maggie; and her great-grandchildren, Lillian and Alex.
Memorial services for Nancy will be held 11:00 AM Friday, August 18, 2023 at the Shelly Funeral
Home, 1460 Easton Road, Warrington where the family will receive friends after 10:00 am until
the time of the service. Interment in Washington Crossing National Cemetery will be held
privately.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Wounded Warrior Project would be
appreciated. www.woundedwarriorproject.org/donate
