Obituary for Melvin D. Strand
Melvin D. Strand “Mel” of Chalfont, passed away at his home on Saturday June 24, 2023. Mel was the husband of Claire D. (Dannecker) Strand. Together the couple had shared 36 years of marriage.
Born in Philadelphia, Mel was the son of the late Roland and Ruth (Mason) Strand.
Mel had been employed for 20 years with Jefferson Abington - Lansdale Campus, and had retired from there in September of 2021
Mel enjoyed playing and listening to music, football, traveling with his wife and his hobbies include painting, watching horror movies with his son, Marcus, and spending time with family.
He will be remembered for his contagious laugh and a smile that could light up the room.
In addition to his wife Claire, Mel is survived by his sons: Marcus (Alexa) Strand and Jamel Williams. He was the grandfather of Jayden, Chyna, Natalia and Isaac and was expecting another grandbaby in the near future. He was the brother of Nette Reed and the late Shirley S. Carroll. Mel is also survived by his nieces and nephews; Anton (Christine), Alicia (Charlie), and David (Davida).
Mel’s Memorial visitation will be held on Saturday July 1, 2023 from 9:00am to 10:00am at the Shelly Funeral Home, 1460 Easton Road Warrington. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home from 9:00 to 10:00am. Services and internment will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to the the National Kidney Foundation.
