Obituary for Mary P. Van Pelt

Mary Palmer Van Pelt, of Hartsville, passed away peacefully on the afternoon of Saturday, January 8, 2022 with her loving family by her side. She was 89 and counting!

She was a loving Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Aunt and Great Aunt to all of her loved ones.

The daughter of Claude and Minnie Palmer, Mary was born at Doylestown Hospital in 1932, and was raised on the family farm in Jamison. She graduated from Hatboro High School in 1950.

Mary was a member of Neshaminy Warwick Presbyterian Church for her entire life. Mary married her husband Robert Van Pelt (Bob) on July 18, 1953 at the same church. Bob passed away in 2015.

She is survived by her children, Robert, Mary Beth and John; her grandchildren, Melissa, Victoria, John (JR), Lisa; great grandchildren, Dylan, Spencer and James; her many nieces and nephews; and her extended family and friends.

Mary was a fun loving woman with a true sense of humor. She loved to travel and really enjoyed going out to dinner and having a good time. She brought joy to everyone who had the pleasure to know her.

Mary loved to give back and to be involved in her community and she served it well. Mary was involved in many organizations including the cub scouts and girl scouts in the 1970’s. She worked as a real estate agent for Prudential Preferred Properties. She was a member of the VIA of Doylestown (Village Improvement Association), the Warrington Garden Club, Doylestown Nature Club, and the Questers of Font Hill. Mary was a Millbrook Society member and enjoyed the archeology digs. She was on the board of the Friends of Bucks County Historical Society. Mary, also, worked with the Warwick Historical Society and was among those instrumental in preserving the Moland House in Warwick.

In addition to her community involvement, Mary also enjoyed gardening, antiques, reading, playing bridge and bingo and being a grandmother/great grandmother.

Mary’s memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, with visitation from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM and the service at 11:00 AM at Neshaminy Warwick Presbyterian Church, 1401 Meetinghouse Road, Hartsville, PA 18974.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Neshaminy Warwick Presbyterian Church, 1401, Meetinghouse Road, Hartsville, PA 18974.
