Obituary for Mary B. Marotta

Mary B. Marotta
Mary Bissol Marotta passed away 23 March, 2014 at home in Doylestown, PA at the age of 88. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Manfred C. Marotta this January. They were married for 61 years.
Mary was born in Hazleton, PA to Philip and Millie Bissol. She worked as a beautician then bookkeeper for her parents’ business Hazleton Barber and Beauty Supply. Mary was an avid seamstress, wonderful cook and enjoyed golf, puzzles and reading. She was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Hazleton, PA.
Most significantly, Mary was the glue who held her family together while her husband was at sea for the Navy, and also when he returned to civilian life and attended college while their two children were also fulltime students and involved in many activities. Her husband and children could not have achieved their professional goals without Mary’s ongoing support, devotion and encouragement. She is survived by her son, Manfred P. Marotta and his wife Lynne, as well as her daughter, Maryann Marotta and her husband Howard Kelin. She was grandmother to Carmelita, Manfred M., and Claudia Marotta, Nancy Meyers, and John, Lauren and Erin Vajda. Her great grandson, Elliot Meyers, and many nieces and nephews also survive her. She will be sadly missed and gratefully remembered.
The family will receive relatives and friends, Friday 9:00am -10:am at the Shelly Funeral Home 1460 Easton Road, Warrington, PA, followed by her Funeral Mass 10:30am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Doylestown. Interment will be held at 2:30pm in Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown, PA. Memorial contributions in Mary’s memory may be sent to The American Diabetes Association, https://donations.diabetes.org or the National Kidney Foundation at www.kidney.org.
