Obituary for Mary Letvenko

Mary Letvenko of Doylestown passed away on Sunday March 5, 2023 at Neshaminy Manor. Mary was 87 years old.

Mary was the beloved wife of William Letvenko. The couple had shared 57 years of marriage.

Born in Monroe, NY., she was the daughter of the late Spencer and Mary (Work) Todt.

After graduating from high school in Monroe NY, Mary went on to attend Bucknell and graduated from Duke University as a medical technologist. Mary then went to work at Stanford University, where she worked with Dr. Norman Shumway. Dr. Shumway was the first to perform the first open heart surgery. Mary then went on to work at Santa Clara Hospital where they performed catheterizations on babies. It was here where she met her husband, Bill.

Later Mary and her husband Bill moved East to raise their family. They started their own business S&M Instrument Company in the basement of their home, and eventually moving to an office in Doylestown.

In her free time, Mary enjoyed gardening, she had a palate for fine food and wine, (and chocolate cake). Mary loved all her animals which included horses, dogs and her beloved cats!

In addition to her husband, Mary is survived by her children; Maryann Franco (Joseph) and William S. Letvenko. She was the sister of the late Nancy Key, and Aunt of the late David Jessup. Mary is also survived by her 3 grandchildren; Valerie Letvenko, and Angelina and Anthony Franco and her nieces Beth Claffie, Courtney Arico, and Eloisa Jessup, and several great nieces and nephews.

A memorial service for Mary will be held at 1:00pm on Friday March 17, 2023 at the Doylestown Presbyterian Church 127 E. Court St. Street Doylestown, PA. There will be no visitation prior to the service.
