Obituary for Mark M. Murphy Jr.

Mark M. Murphy, Jr., of Warrington, passed away on Sunday, August 7, 2022 at Holy Redeemer Hospital. He was 75.

Mark was the loving husband of Margaret “Peggy” Murphy. The couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in September of 2021.

Born in East Oak Lane area of Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Mark M. and Elizabeth Murphy.

Mark graduated from St. Joseph University with a bachelor’s degree in History. He had a long sales career in the commercial lighting business.

Mark was a parishioner of St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church in Warrington.

In his free time Mark enjoyed fishing and attending various sporting events cheering the Phillies, Eagles, Flyers and Sixers. He was incredibly passionate about his Alma Mater St. Joseph’s University and supporting the Men’s Basketball program. He often reminded folks that “The Hawk Will Never Die!” His greatest enjoyment in life came from spending time with his family. He was and incredibly devoted husband, caring father, loving Pop-Pop, and loyal friend.

In addition to his wife, Peggy, Mark will be deeply missed by his children, Christine Thomas (Greg), Maureen Zack (Brian), Mary Ellen Nash (Jonathan), Mark J. Murphy (Diana); 6 grandchildren, Erin, Brendan, Ryan, Mallory, Conor, Maeve; and his three sisters, Joanne Meitner (Phil), Kathleen Kaul (Larry), and Mary-Ellen Krajewski (Rick).

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 12, 2022 at 11:00 AM at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 856 Euclid Ave., Warrington, PA 18976. The family will receive friends from 9:00 AM until the time of the Mass. Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Cheltenham.
