Josephine was a church organist and choir director at the Hungarian Reform Church in Woodbridge, Rahway First Baptist Church and the First Baptist Church of Toms River. She was a member of the Rahway First Baptist Church, the First Baptist Church of Toms River and Hatboro Baptist Church. She loved bus trips and traveling in the US with her friends and family. She was a member of the Highlanders and the choir at the church in Toms River. She was devoted to her family and dearly loved them all. She loved opening her home to family and friends for dinners, especially at the holidays. She was an accomplished seamstress and loved to sew and crochet.

Josephine is survived by her children Judy McLaughlin and Donald J. Balogh (Sarah). She was the sister of Santa Gruhler, and Guy Mingoia (Betty).
