Obituary for
John L. "JB" Ball
John Ball passed away suddenly February 11th while traveling with his wife Dorothy. He was born and raised in Peekskill, NY. He graduated from Hendrick Hudson HS where he was voted “friendliest” and “most talkative.” Anyone who knew him would agree he retained those titles for the rest of his life.
John honored the family tradition of serving in the Marines. While stationed at Willow Grove, he met the beautiful redhead who would become his wife. John and Dottie had two daughters, whom he loved to distraction. Over the years, John “adopted” several more daughters and sons who will remember him for his warmth and humor. Joggi doted on his grandchildren and their friends even more than his daughters.
He retired from the Telephone Company early. He then worked for Colibraro Nursery and as a Tipstaff at the Bucks County Court house. In his brief retirement, he golfed, traveled, visited friends and family and doted even more on his granddaughters.
JB loved spending time with his friends and family. He especially loved getting into mischief with his siblings and cousins. He would help anyone who needed it. His hobbies were fishing, golf, and making up stories about both. He could spot a brown deer in a brown field at dusk even when driving. He was a fan of any sports team his daughters or granddaughters played on. He had his own inspired and highly interpretative way of dancing. He leaves behind an impressive collection of hats.
He will be missed by his wife, Dorothy; daughters Stacie (and her husband John) Calder, Jennifer Ball (and her spouse Carol Kent); sister Cele (and her husband Dave) Tandy, brothers Paul T(and his wife Mary Ann) Ball, Pete (and his wife Lexi) Ball; granddaughters Madison Calder, Alexa Calder and many, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Mary Ball and brother Joe Ball.
John’s funeral mass will be 11:00 am Thursday, February 20, 2014 at St Robert Bellarmine Church, 856 Euclid Ave, Warrington. The family will be celebrating his life while receiving friends 6-8:00 pm Wednesday at the Shelly Funeral Home, 1460 Easton Road, Warrington, PA and 10-10:30am Thursday at the church. Military honors will be held at 10:45 Thursday at the church. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
