Obituary for Jean K. Lang
Jean K. Lang passed away at her home in Warrington on Tuesday October 11, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. Jean was 82 years old.
Born in Aurora, IL., Jean was the daughter of the late Jack K. and Ila M. (Ries) Meacham.
Jean had graduated from Downers Grove North High School class of 1958. She had received her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Southern Illinois University in 1964.
Jean had been employed with Harris Bank in downtown Chicago. After graduating she taught elementary school for Center Cass in Downers Grove then later Blair Mill Elementary School, St. Paul's Preschool and Children of America. She loved children and even continued working as a teacher's aide through 2022.
In her free time Jean enjoyed meeting friends for movies and going out to eat, shopping, traveling to places in Europe like Monaco and vacationing in Hawaii with her amazing mom and much adored sister. Several times Jean and her girlfriends liked to hop in her Chevy Impala and drive from Chicago to Florida where they loved to go dancing and sunbathing. She kept in touch with her childhood friends over the decades and they often visited each other now living in various parts of the country. When they couldn't visit, they would spend hours on the phone catching up. She and her roommates from Four Lakes community in Lisle, IL loved throwing parties until they almost got kicked out for too much noise and dancing. Jean thought it would be a nice idea to invite the landlady and that's how the parties continued! This unique mountainside community was where she learned to ski and later taught her husband and then daughters when she married and moved to Pennsylvania in 1968. They enjoyed spending time on their boat where her husband then taught her to water ski. Jean loved her outings with girlfriends and was always there to listen. You could count on her for anything and she never forgot anyone's birthday, anniversary or special occasion. Most of all spending time with family was her best treasure of all. She was so greatly loved by her two daughters.
Jean is survived by her daughters Kerry Lang and Kristine Kelly (husband Tom), sister Jacklyn Hawn (husband R. John) and nephew Christopher Hawn (wife Leanne).
Funeral Services will be announced at a later date. Internment will be held privately.
