Obituary for J. Walter F. "Walt" Blizard Jr.
J. Walter F. Blizard, Jr., “Walt”, of Northampton Twp., passed away on Monday,
July 3, 2023 at Neshaminy Manor. He was 93.
Born in Philadelphia, he was the oldest son of the late J. Walter F. and Katherine
Blizard.
Walt attended Duke University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree
in Engineering.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. After his
honorable discharge, he was employed as a mechanical and electrical engineer for the
American Meter Company and Northrup Corporation before a nearly 30-year-long career
at the Naval Air Development Center. Making sure that aircraft structures were strong
and resilient – to protect the lives of aviators and flight crews – was his life’s work.
In his free time, Walt loved to play golf. He enjoyed nothing more than spending
time outdoors with his grandchildren.
Walt will be deeply missed by his daughter, Dawn Blizard (Robert Imeson) and
three granddaughters, Katherine, Rose and Grace Imeson.
A graveside service for Walt will be held at 11:30 AM on Monday, July 17, 2023
at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Rd., Newtown, PA. Please
arrive at the cemetery by 11:15 AM. When you arrive at the cemetery, please meet at
the funeral procession gathering point located on the first right off of the main driveway.
