Howard A.  Koenig
Howard A . ( GPop, Pop) Koenig of Pipersville, PA peacefully passed away at home on February 20, 2014 surrounded by his loving family after a hard fought battle with cancer. He was 77 years of age. Born in Philadelphia he was the son of the late Arthur and Ethel Koenig.
Howard was the beloved husband of 52 years to Barbara (nee Eynon) and is survived by his adored sons and their wives Howard Gregory and Mary, Gary and Wendy, Douglas and Michelle and Christopher and Sara, and 8 precious Koenig grandchildren Kyle, Corey, Jamie, Andrew, Zachary, Trevor, Kerstin and Bradley. He is also survived by his brother Ronald and his wife Donna of Richboro, PA and many loved nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother Albert.
Howard was a fun loving person with a great sense of humor whose most cherished times were family gatherings where he appeared as the Easter bunny, Christmas elf and other amusing characters.
Howard enjoyed working and had his own construction business for 45 years with his brother, sons and trusted friends. He built, owned and operated apartment complexes and built many area homes.
Howard had a lifelong passion for baseball. He signed a professional contract with the Cincinnati Reds the night he graduated from Council Rock H. S. in 1954. “Coach K” loved instructing young people and coached baseball for 25 years with Pinehickon and Tinicum Youth organizations with his son’s teams. He assisted his sons with his grandsons’ teams and was always available with helpful advice. He was an avid Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies fan.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at 11 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 1 at St. Matthews Lutheran Church, 3668 Ridge Road, Perkasie, PA 18944. His service will begin at 1:00 p.m.
Our family wishes to gratefully thank Doylestown Hospital Hospice for the attentive loving care given to Howard during his final days.
