Obituary for Gregory S. Dixon

Gregory Scott Dixon, of Warrington, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 24, 2022. He was 76.

Greg was the devoted husband of Deborah A. Dixon. The couple was married for 40 wonderful years.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Merwin and Charlotte Dixon.

Greg proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps achieving the rank of Sergeant during the Vietnam Era from 1964 to 1968. Greg received many medals, badges, and commendations for his service including: National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Bronze Star Medal with Combat “V”, Good Conduct Medal, Rifle Sharp Shooter Badge, and Pistol Expert Badge.

After being honorably discharged from the Marines, Greg became a Police Officer with the Philadelphia Police Department. After retiring from the police department, Greg took on the career of an Executive Protection Agent for NOVARTIS Pharmaceutical Corp.

Greg's greatest enjoyment in life came from spending time with his family and friends. He also loved being in Florida with good friends there.

In addition to his wife, Deborah, Greg will be deeply missed by his three children, Scott Dixon (Kathy), Shawn Dixon (Jennifer), Jennifer Dixon; a son-in-law, Anthony Barg (Olga); 5 grandchildren (who were the light of his life), Ethan, Katelyn, Jaydon, Andrew and Samantha; and two sisters, Karen Prill (Chuck), and Audrey Burke.

In addition to his parents, Greg was preceded in death by a sister, Connie Patterson and a brother-in-law, Bill Burke.

A Prayer Service will be held on Friday, October 14, 2022 at 12:00 PM at the Shelly Funeral Home, 1460 Easton Rd., Warrington, PA 18976. Greg’s family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until the time of the service. Interment will follow at Washington Crossing National Cemetery where full military honors will be rendered.
