Obituary for Fred H. Greim
Fred H. Greim passed away on Saturday, January 29, 2022 surrounded by his family at his home in Warrington, PA. Fred was 89 years old. He was the husband of Ingrid (Gottschlich) Greim. The couple had met at a German club in Philadelphia. Together, Fred and Ingrid shared 58 years of marriage.
Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Fritz and Rosa (Pittroff) Greim. Fred had moved to Germany as a child with his parents. He had attended college in Germany and had received a degree in Electrical Engineering. When he was 28 years old, Fred returned to the United States. He found employment in his field of electrical engineering; first with Philco Ford, then Burroughs (Unisys), and eventually retiring from Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) in Hanover, MD. Fred was well respected in his field working with air to ground communication systems, some of which needed military clearance.
Fred, along with Ingrid, had been involved in many local German clubs, and had enjoyed many of the social actives the clubs offered, especially dancing. He was known by many for having a creative mind to build or fix any item or project thrown his way.
Along with his loving wife Ingrid, Fred is survived by his three daughters, Barbara Silvi (Silvio), Susanne Holden (Thomas) and Karen Verna (Robert) and six grandchildren, Marissa Silvi, Kristen Silvi, Dylan Verna, Jason Verna, Angela Silvi and Nicholas Holden.
Fred’s Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 856 Euclid Ave., Warrington, PA 18976. The family will receive family and friends Friday evening at Shelly Funeral Home from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, and Saturday at the Church from 9:00am until the time of the Mass. Interment will follow at St. John Neumann Cemetery, 3797 County Line Rd, Chalfont, PA 18914.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the German Society of Pennsylvania, 611 Spring Garden Street, Philadelphia, PA 19123 or St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 856 Euclid Avenue, Warrington, PA 18976.
