Obituary for Elizabeth F. "Betty" Sammarco

Elizabeth F. Sammarco, formerly of Union, NJ and Warrington, PA, passed away on Wednesday, March 30th, 2022, at The Bridges at Warwick in Jamison, PA. She was 98 years young. She was the loving wife of the late Philip A. Sammarco. Born in Newark, NJ, she was the daughter of the late John and Julia Linfante.

Betty worked as a secretary at Schering Plough Corporation in Summit, NJ, Varian Industries, and later at Finnigan Instruments Corporation, where the founder in name produced the first commercial mass Spectrometer in the late 1960s. Betty and her late husband raised their children in a home in Union, NJ. They enjoyed traveling together and many enjoyable Friday nights spent dancing and singing at The Knights of Columbus. They also enjoyed many family gatherings where Betty was always found in the kitchen cooking up something Italian and delicious. “Ravs” was always a family favorite! She later moved to Heritage Creek in Warrington, PA. She made many new friends and enjoyed going on trips with them as well as being a member of The Red Hat Society. She was a valuable member of her son-in-law’s business, TravelOn USA.

Betty will be missed deeply by her children Phyllis Prestia (Ronald), Charles Sammarco (Carole), and Elaine Greza (George); a granddaughter, Courtney Dalton (Daniel); and her great-grandchildren, Lola, and Levi.
In addition to her late husband and parents, Betty was preceded in death by her brothers, Carmen and Harold Linfante and her sister-in-law, Arlene.

Visitation will be from 9:30 – 10:30 AM, Friday, April 8th, at Shelly Funeral Home, 1460 Easton Rd., Warrington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM at St. Cyril of Jerusalem Catholic Church, 1410 Almshouse Rd., Jamison, PA 18929. Interment will follow at 2:00 PM at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 225 Ridgedale Ave., East Hanover, NJ. When arriving at the cemetery, please meet at the front gate to proceed to the gravesite.
