Donald J. “Don” Bakasy, of Warrington, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 13, 2022 surrounded by his family. He was 78.
Don was the loving husband of Mary Candace “Candy” Bakasy. The couple would have celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on June 3, 2022.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Andrew and Camille Bakasy.
Don was a parishioner of St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church. He was very active in the prayer group at St. Catherine of Siena in Horsham, PA.
Don was employed as a truck driver for 39 years at Rohm & Haas in Bridesburg, PA.
Don enjoyed mentoring young people, was a football coach for many years at Wissinoming Boys' Club, and loved to shared his passion and skills for hunting and the great outdoors with his son and nephew and son-in-law.
In his free time, Don enjoyed traveling, home remodeling, woodworking, going to Lake Galena, fishing, boating, spending time in the woods ("his church") and was an avid hunter for over 50 years. His greatest enjoyment in life came from spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, Candy, Don will be dearly missed by his children, Montague Bakasy (Guadalupe), Kelley Brogden (Glenn); two grandchildren, Amanda Jordan and Analiese Bakasy; his sisters, Janet DeAngelo (Francis), Suzann Hixson (John); his brother Andrew Bakasy (Margaret); nephews, Thomas Orzechowski (Irene), David McComb; nieces, Joanne DeAngelo Rau, Denise Margerum, Roxanne DeAngelo; and his cousin, Carin Lambertson.
Don’s Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February, 1, 2022 at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 856 Euclid Ave., Warrington, PA 18976. His family will receive friends from 10:00 until the time of the Mass. Interment will follow at Washington Crossing National Cemetery where military honors will be rendered.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Don’s memory may be made to the PA Wounded Warriors Inc., 1117 Country Club Road, Camp Hill, PA 17011.
