Obituary for Dolores B. Simpson

Dolores B. Simpson of Doylestown passed away on Wednesday September 28, 2022, at the Bristol House in Warrington at 92 years of age. She was the wife of the late Robert A. Simpson who passed away in 2012. Together the couple shared 61 years of marriage.

Born in Philadelphia, Dolores was the daughter of the late Edward and Margaret (Lasher) Bauer. She was a graduate of St Edwards parochial school and Little Flower High School for Girls, Class of 1948.

Dolores had been employed by Bell Telephone and Western Electric companies in Philadelphia, and later worked in the school cafeterias at Paul W Kutz Elementary school and Unami Middle School in the Central Bucks school district.

In her free time Dolores enjoyed listening to a variety of music, but especially loved Judy Garland. The Wizard of Oz was her favorite movie. She was also an avid reader from an early age; her favorite book was Little Women. She enjoyed many trips in the motor home, especially those to Myrtle Beach, SC. She also loved watching the birds that feasted at the birdfeeder outside her kitchen window. Dolores will be remembered for her quick wit, sense of humor, and attention to detail. She was a stickler for proper grammar & pronunciation thanks to the nuns who taught English at St Edwards. She had a love for all animals, the environment, and those less fortunate; she contributed to many charities that support those causes.

Dolores is survived by her children; Gail Watson (Barry), Wendy McCubbin (Ian), Lorraine Simpson, Stacy Zeller (Scott), and Alex Simpson. She was the sister of Margaret Taylor, Judith Vaca, and the late Elaine Frye. She is also survived by her grandchildren Andrea (Brian), Brandon, Melissa, Samantha, and Seth, and her great grandchildren Hayden, Brian, and Lincoln.

Dolores’s Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, 235 E. State St., Doylestown, PA 18901. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Huntington Valley. The family will receive friends at the Church from 9:30 AM until the time of Mass.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to St Labre Indian School PO Box 216 Ashland, Mt 59003 or Little Flower Catholic High School for Girls 1000 West Lycoming St. Philadelphia, Pa. 19140. All donations to Little Flower will be used for tuition assistance.
