Obituary for Dale C. Stauffer

Dale C. Stauffer
Dale C. Stauffer passed away on May 27, 2014 at home in Point Pleasant, PA. He was 78 years young.
Born and raised in Brackenridge, PA, on March 11th, 1936, Dale was the son of the late Lee Stauffer and Helen (Milheim) Stauffer, of Sarver, PA.
In his youth, he spent many hours on the Allegheny River and working summers at his grandmother's farm. Dale graduated from Tarentum High School and began working at United States Steel in the galvanizing department, then truck driving, making deliveries to Morrisville Pa., where he met Cynthia North at a local ice cream shop. Dale started working at Cartex Corp., Morrisville, Pa., married Cindy, and had two children, Venetia and Jason Stauffer.
His family vacations and free time were spent on many camping trips and teaching himself construction while building two homes both located on Old Rock Road, outside of Lambertville, NJ.
Cartex opened up a division of the company in Doylestown, PA, Dale had moved up in the company and headed to Doylestown to help run this division. Dale traveled River Road daily to get to Doylestown. In 1970, he saw Jack's Bar for sale in Point Pleasant, PA.
April of 1970, Dale and Cindy became the proud owners of the bar, changing the name to Apple Jack Hotel. Moving the bar from the first floor to the basement, a Rustic Cellar Bar was born.
They were great hosts of Apple Jack Hotel, as well as, avid snowmobilers and boaters. Dale, once again, spent a lot of time on the water, this time the Delaware River. Dale and Cindy took their children on many great adventures.
Cindy preceded Dale in death, passing away in 1972. Dale never remarried.
Dale continued hosting the constant flow of customers at Apple Jack's with the help of his daughter, Venetia, and son, Jason.
He made many life-long friends and memories with motorcycle, snowmobile,
Oktoberfest, fishing, and hunting trips, both in the States and abroad. He believed strongly in, and was a member of, the NRA.
Dale's annual Tube Floats were always an anticipated part of summer. He had lots of family and friend activities on the Delaware River at his coveted river dock.
Dale never wanted to retired. He ran Apple Jack's until a stroke made it impossible.
He is survived by his daughter, Venetia Stauffer Hayes, of Point Pleasant, PA, and her daughters, Ashley and Kayla, of New York, NY; his son, Jason Stauffer, of Upper Black Eddy, his wife Elaine and their two children, Abby and Evan; and his brother, Scott Stauffer, of Pittsburgh, PA.
Friends are invited to greet the family Wednesday, June 4th, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Shelly Funeral Home, Easton Road and Keller’s Church Road in Plumsteadville, PA. A Eulogy will begin at 6:00 pm.
