Obituary for Conrad Koch

(Gerry) Conrad Koch, 75, of North Wales, PA, peacefully met his Lord and Savior face to face on Wednesday, June 1, 2022.

Conrad was born in Oak Park, IL, on September 6, 1946, to Gerhardt and Irma Koch. He was the oldest of their 5 children. Conrad was happily married to Barbara Roembke Koch for nearly 49 years. Together, they had 2 daughters, Rachel and Rebekah.

Conrad graduated from Proviso East High School in Forest Park, IL, in 1964. He earned his Bachelor of Psychology from the University of Illinois - Chicago in 1968. He then joined the staff of Campus Crusade for Christ (Cru) in 1969. Conrad met his wife Barbara in Chicago in 1971. After marrying in 1973, they moved to Dallas, TX, where he attended and graduated from Dallas Theological Seminary in 1979. Conrad and Barbara welcomed their first daughter, Rachel, in 1977. In 1979, the family of 3 moved to Exton, PA, where Conrad worked as an area director for Campus Crusade. His second daughter, Rebekah, was born in 1980. Together, Conrad and Barbara served with Campus Crusade in the Pennsylvania-Delaware Area until 1996. He then took a job as an associate pastor at Valley Community Baptist Church in Avon, CT, where he worked for 11 years. In 2007, Conrad and Barbara moved to Mt. Joy, PA, where he served as senior pastor at Hope Community Church until 2011. In early retirement, he moved to North Wales, PA, where he and Barbara lived with their daughter Rachel and her family and attended Grace Community Church.

Conrad knew and loved God deeply, and he had a passion to see others grasp how high and wide and deep God’s love is for them. He trusted in Jesus as his Savior and served Him faithfully. Thousands of lives were touched by Conrad’s teaching and wise counsel throughout his years in ministry. He was a devoted husband, a caring father and grandfather, and a friend to all. He was known for asking people provoking questions to reach a deeper understanding of their hearts, earning him the nickname ‘ConQuest’. Beyond his genuine love of God and people, Conrad enjoyed trains, going for jogs and walks, music from ‘The Beach Boys’, antiques, and Chicago sports teams. He had an uncanny appetite for popcorn and ice cream.

In addition to his wife, Conrad is survived by his daughter, Rachel Notte and son-in-law, Chris Notte; their children, Ella Notte and Connor Notte; his daughter, Rebekah McPeak and son-in-law, Andy McPeak; their children, Madelyn McPeak and Emma McPeak; his siblings, Coral (& Rick) Baas, Kendall (& Irma) Koch, Philipp (& Cherie) Koch, and Robert (& Dionis) Koch; Barbara’s siblings, Joyce (& Rich) Bademan and Jim (& Holly) Roembke. He is preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Lianne Roembke.

A visitation will be held at 10am on Friday, June 24th at Grace Community Church (300 Highpoint Dr; Chalfont, PA 18914). Memorial service will follow at 11am.
