Obituary for Christopher J. Boyle

Christopher J. Boyle, of Plumstead Twp., passed away surrounded by his family on Saturday, December 17, 2022 at Doylestown Hospital. He was 61.

Christopher was the loving husband of Connie Diehl-Boyle. The couple celebrated their 31st anniversary on February 2nd, 2022.

In addition to his wife, Connie, Christopher will be deeply missed by his children, Katie Boyle, Bryan Boyle (Victoria); his siblings, Maryellen Boyle, Michael Boyle (Beth), Nancy Evangelista (Christopher); his mother and father-in-law, Carol and David Diehl; his brothers-in-law, David Diehl (Patsy), Daniel Diehl (Maura); his sister-in-law, Cathleen Belfield (Dan); and his 15 nieces and nephews. Chris will also be remembered by an extraordinarily long list of friends who he considered and treated as family.

Born in Willow Grove, PA he was a son of the late Michael and Nancy Boyle. During his early childhood, Chris’s father Michael Boyle Sr. (originally from Scotland) was a beloved member of the community and was especially involved in coaching youth baseball, playing tennis and other athletics. Chris would later be known for the same involvement in his own children’s lives. Chris was a self-proclaimed star athlete throughout his teenage years which translated into him being an avid and diehard sports fan throughout the rest of life. He was fortunate enough to witness 2 Phillies World Series wins, 3 Villanova Basketball NCAA championships, and 1 Eagles Superbowl victory – all of these Philadelphia sports history moments were some of his most cherished memories.

After high school, Chris went on to West Chester University where he made lifelong friends and met his wife Connie. It was there that Connie and Chris started their love story which was marked with humor, adventure, fun, teasing, and constant jokes. They were truly the definition of opposites attract, but their shared values of unwavering loyalty, incredible generosity and complete devotion to family was the cornerstone of their partnership. They were best friends for all 31 years of their marriage. Chris often remarked that he “outkicked his coverage” in marrying Connie, the one and only love of his life.

Chris and Connie started their family by welcoming their daughter Katie into the world on Connie’s 28th birthday in 1991. It was evident from the very the beginning that Katie inherited many parts of her father’s personality – they shared a special and unbreakable bond. In 1994, Chris and Connie had their son Bryan. Bryan and his dad shared a love of sports and fishing. In adulthood, Bryan grew to exemplify all of Chris’s best qualities – none more so than being a steadfast and devoted husband to his incredible wife V. Both Katie and Bryan share their dad’s passion for bringing friends together. The Boyle’s homes in both Doylestown, PA and Avalon, NJ have forever had an open-door policy for the family’s vast groups of friends to gather and celebrate. Chris reveled in being the center of a party, and his kids intend to continue that legacy.

In all his special spots, Chris had an incredible ability to make friends and find community. He and his son Bryan enjoyed their shared happy place fishing on the waters of Islamorada, Florida. The whole family has amazing memories from their trips to the Keys where Chris felt totally at home. Whether he was in Bucks County, the Jersey shore or the Florida Keys, Chris loved to set up residency at various local hangouts. He would enthusiastically chat with bartenders, patrons, visitors, locals and the like – his friendliness was legendary and inescapable. He often referred to his dear friends at various chosen establishments as “my people” – the list of acquaintances and friends Chris counted among his people is too long to name, but he cherished them all and all were made to feel important by him.

Chris kept his loved ones laughing constantly. He cared deeply about the people in his circle and nothing in this world meant more to him than his family. His infectious laugh, booming voice, hilarious expressions, and over-the-top attitude are impossible to replace and impossible to forget. Those who loved him will remember him, miss him, and love him for the rest of their lives.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 5194 Cold Spring Creamery Rd., Doylestown, PA 18902. Chris’s family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the time of the Mass. Those wishing to greet the family are encouraged to arrive early so that all may be welcomed before Mass begins at noon. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Christopher’s memory may be made to Doylestown Health Foundation, 595 W. State Street, Doylestown, PA 18901. Please designate Doylestown Hospice for donation.
