Obituary for Benito Marcantuono

Benito Marcantuono of Buckingham Twp., passed away on Monday, January 30, 2023, at Doylestown Hospital. He was 88 years old. Benito was the beloved husband of Maria (Lodise) Marcantuono

Born in Salerno, Italy, he was the son of the late Liberato and Caterina (Tarantini) Marcantuono. Benito grew up in Marina di Pisa which held a special place in his heart. At the age of 19, he left Italy and moved to Canada until he met his wife of almost 65 years in Philadelphia. It was love at first sight and within 4 months, they were married. Benito raised his children (Cathy and Benny) in the Somerton section of Philadelphia where he was involved in coaching soccer for the Somerton Youth Organization. In 1987, Benito and his wife moved to Sea Isle City, NJ which he always said reminded him of Marina di Pisa. His grandchildren would spend their summers at the shore with him and they would create memories that they will never forget.

In his free time Benito enjoyed watching soccer and Formula One with his children and grandchildren. Benito was a proud father and took an active role in his grandchildren’s lives. Nothing meant more to Benito than his family. Whether he was traveling with them to Italy to show them his hometown, enjoying gelato with them, or enjoying a holiday together, Benito was always wanting to spend time with his family. He was often the person that everyone would run to for advice, and, without a doubt, would always have the answer.

He had incredible patience and was a man of pride and integrity and touched the lives of so many people.

Benito will be deeply missed by his daughter; Cathy Muto (Vince), and his son Benito Marcantuono (Brenda). He was the grandfather of Jacqueline Muto (Jenna), Maria Muto-Rodriguez (Wilton Jr.), Vincenzo Muto, Anthony J. Marcantuono and Uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Benito was the brother of Silvana Tomasicchio, Margarita Pizzuto, and Vincenzo Marcantuono and the late Yolanda Hickey, Lilliana Santoro, and Maria Louisa Wilkes.

Benito’s Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Thursday, February 9, 2023, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 5194 Cold Spring Creamery Rd., Doylestown, PA 18902. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the time of the Mass. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to St. Jude's Hospital for Children
