Obituary for Albert J. Schwarz

Albert J. Schwarz, affectionately known by many as "Big Al," passed away peacefully in his Doylestown Twp. home on Thursday September 10, 2020. It was the eve of his 54th wedding anniversary to wife Arline, also deceased. Big Al was 84.

He is survived by his elder son Albert "John" Schwarz, Jr., wife Joanne Cannon, and daughter Caitlin Cannon. He is also survived by his younger son, Attorney Steven J. Schwarz, wife April, and their two children Christopher and Cameron. Also mourning the loss of Big Al is his cat "Chubby."

After graduating from Hatboro-Horsham High School, he joined the United States Marines, an institution he remained loyal to throughout his life, and for which he largely attributed his many successes in life. After honorable discharge from the Marines, he worked as a Marketing Representative for IBM for 38 years. After retiring from IBM, he worked at Lexmark International and later he helped son John with his carpentry business.

In his free time, he enjoyed mowing the lawn, tending to his gardens, sitting on the front porch while smoking a cigar, and reading the latest edition of the Wall Street Journal or Forbes. He also enjoyed spending time with dear friends and attending cultural events at the Kimmel Center and Bucks County Playhouse. Big Al had a love for the arts and singing.

Al had a larger-than-life personality and a kind heart. He was passionate about helping those who were less fortunate than himself.

Burial will be at Doylestown Cemetery on Friday September 25. Those wishing to pay their respects are invited to come at 12:30.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Al's name may be made to Christ's Home in Warminster.
