Obituary for Terry Dale Fiedler

Terry Dale Fiedler

Terry Dale Fiedler of Durango, CO., formerly of South Bend, IN., passed away on March 30, 2018 at Phoebe Nursing Home in Richlandtown, PA. Terry was 77 years old.

Terry was the son of the late Fred and Marjorie Fiedler.

Terry received his BA and MBA from the University of Denver, and went on to have a long distinguished career in the telecommunications industry.

Terry was a resident of Durango for over 40 years. He was born in and raised in South Bend, In., and had moved to Colorado to attend the University of Denver after High School. He eventually settled in Durango and became a well-known figure in the community as one of the co-founders of Snowdown. As the original coordinator he was instrumental in making Snowdown what it is today. He created and produced the Snowdown Follies and the Snowdown Light Parade. He was a dedicated and active member of the community and volunteered much of his time to Snowdown and the Durango Chamber of Commerce. Terry had served on the Board of Directors for 22 years as President of the Hilltop House, which helped transition people from prison into society.

Terry was a beloved Father and brother, as well as a friend to many in Durango. He had an amazing outlook on life and truly valued his time with everyone who he was blessed to know. Terry was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed camping, hiking, skiing and all sorts of outdoor activities. He also had a passion for travel and had traveled extensively both inside and outside the United States.

Terry had many nicknames, including “Mr. Snowdown, The Mayor of Navaho Lake, Fieds and Captain.” He spent much of his free time with friends and family at Lake Powell, a place that brought him great peace.

Terry is survived by his children Amy Fiedler of Collegeville, PA., and Eric Fiedler of Shanghai, China, both formerly of Durango, CO. Terry was the brother of Judy Snyder of Warrington, PA. He is also survived his grandchildren Kara and Zachery Fusco, and Anna and Kristen Fiedler.

A memorial celebration of Terry’s life will be held this summer in Durango CO., followed by a private service at Lake Powell Utah. Details of the celebration will be shared when available.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association in Terry’s name.
