Obituary for Elizabeth Rae Russell

Elizabeth Rae  Russell
“Tho she be but little, she is fierce.”
The Russell family and friends have lost an amazing woman on April 1, 2018.
Elizabeth Rae Russell, born in Milford, DE to parents, Plaford and Lillie Reed Russell on August 26, 1923.
She graduated from Milton High School, Milton, DE as Valedictorian and received a scholarship to Hahnemann Hospital School of Nursing in Philadelphia, PA Class of 1945.
She was married 55 years to Harold L. Russell, now deceased. She leaves three children – Karen R. Hart (Gary) of Elkton, MD, Melissa A. Russell ( Brett Haddaway) of Doylestown PA, and Keith R. Russell (Donna) of Morrisville, PA. She loved being MomMom to Emma and James Russell and also to Terrence Hebel and Ellie Cheromcka. She also had the pleasure of being MomMom Rae to 6 great grandchildren. One brother, Pierce Russell, now deceased, from Lewes, DE.
She enjoyed being active in her children’s lives volunteering in their schools, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts and Sunday School Teacher.
At age 50, she took a Registered Nurse refresher course at Abington Hospital, PA and reentered the world of nursing. She worked at Neshaminy Manor Nursing Home for 22 years as an RN and volunteered in their Gift Shop for 15 years becoming manager for most of that time.
She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church Buckingham since 1966, a member of Hahnemann Hospital School of Nursing Alumni and Central Bucks Registered Nurses. She enjoyed the Doylestown Senior Center aerobic exercise group and had recently taken up knitting with the group at Trinity..
Relatives and friends are invited to her memorial service Sat. April 7, 2018 at Trinity Episcopal Church, Buckingham. 10-11am visit with family, service at 11am, Internment will take place in the church cemetery followed by the reception at the church.
