Obituary for Catherine Nagurny

Catherine Nagurny
Catherine Nagurny, 89, a resident of Country Meadows of Mechanicsburg, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2018 at West Shore Hospital.
Born in 1928 in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Anna Mocrytzki and the youngest of six children. Catherine was married for 41 years to the late Walter A. Nagurny.
Catherine and Walter raised their family in Chalfont, Bucks County, PA and later lived in Doylestown, PA, St. Petersburg, FL, and Mechanicsburg, PA. Known as “Aunt Kosh” by her loved ones, Catherine was dedicated to her family, Catholic faith, and Ukrainian heritage.
She was known for recounting family lore and her ability to strike up a conversation with loved ones and strangers alike. In addition to being accomplished at crocheting, embroidery, cooking, and baking, she was an avid reader. She shared her love of cardinals with her constant companion and cat, Sassy. Catherine eagerly awaited each May, when her favorite flower, the lilac, blossomed. For many years, Catherine volunteered at local hospitals in Doylestown and St. Petersburg.
In addition to her husband, Catherine was predeceased by her sisters Mildred, Mary, and Anna; brothers John and Michael; and her grandson Keith Harrison.
Catherine is survived by her daughter Kathleen Harrison (Sacramento, CA), son and daughter-in-law Walter and Joanne Nagurny (Herndon, VA), son Michael Nagurny (Lemoyne, PA), granddaughter Kay Harrison (Sacramento, CA), granddaughter and grandson-in-law Kelly and Harry Hitz (Dauphin, PA), grandson Michael Nagurny (Dauphin, PA), granddaughter Samantha Nagurny (Towson, MD), grandson Mark Nagurny (Herndon, VA), great-granddaughter Catherine Harrison (Sacramento, CA), great-grandson Henry Hitz (Dauphin, PA), and great-granddaughter June Hitz (Dauphin, PA) and numerous nieces and nephews.
Catherine’s Requiem of Divine Liturgy will be celebrated 11:00 am Monday, January 15, 2018 at St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church, 1545 Easton Rd, Warrington where the family will receive friends after 10:00 until the time of service. Interment will follow in St. John Neumann Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Catherine’s name to local animal rescues or other non-profit organization.
